HOW TO MAKE A
CHUMBA BALL
*
Find some old
newspapers.
*
Wet the newspapers to
give them some weight.
*
Crumple it into a ball.
*
Put it in a plastic shopping
bag and tie the plastic
tightly
around the ball with string
This ball cannot hurt anyone.
PS: ‘Chumba’ does not mean
anything and no-one knows
where the name comes from.
* Find two teams of at least two players each.
* Choose an outside play area and draw a line on two sides.
* Team A waits behind one line outside the play area and team B waits inside the play area.
* One of the team A players takes the chumba ball and asks, “Chumba?”
* If team B’s players are ready, they shout, “Yes!”
* If you forget to ask, “Chumba?” you are out.
* The team A player hits the ball with his fist as far away as possible from team B and starts
running to the other line. He may not throw the ball out of the play area.
* The team B players throw the ball at the runner, while he tries to get safely to the other
line and back to his starting line. He can repeat the game until he is hit.
* You have to stand still when you throw the ball at the runner. You can throw the ball to
your team-players if they are nearer to the runner.
* When the team A players are out, it is team B’s turn. The team with the most runs, wins.
